How to Make an Alien in Yahoo! Messenger

Anyone using an emoticon or smiley face on Yahoo! Messenger that isn't included in the emoticon list is using a hidden emoticon. Hidden emoticons you can use on Yahoo! Messenger include a skull, shamrock and alien. If you want to make an alien emoticon in the instant messaging program, you can type just three characters to do so.

Open Yahoo! Messenger and enter your sign-in information.          

Double-click the name of a contact you want to send a message to using an alien emoticon. 

Type the following characters to make an alien emoticon:

  Type the rest of your message and press "Enter." You will notice that the alien emoticon appears with the rest of your message.
